Expedition

Expedition photography is full of unknowns; from weather conditions to subject matter. My natural resourcefulness and love for moment-to-moment story capture mean this is where I thrive. Being able to keep up with the action is all about preparation and I always have a plan A, B, C and even D - for when things really go sideways. I’m a safety-first kind of photographer and I know it takes a well-running crew to pull these things off, so I always arrive ready and excited to be a part of the team, beyond my role as photographer.

Adventure Sports

Capturing people in their flow state, merging the physical and mental aspects of sport, lights me up. From paddling out to the post-dive glow, personal limit-pushing to tests of endurance, I love documenting it all. My priority on these shoots is making sure the client, whether that’s a magazine, brand or athlete, has a wide selection of captivating images that work across web, print and social media.

Conservation

Photography can be a powerful tool for change, and I’m passionate about using it to aid the environment. Most often, my conservation photography is for print or web publications alongside my own articles, but I also work with environmental NGOs on imagery for campaigns and social media.

Landscape

Landscape photography is how I express my awe and fascination for this planet. I have a library of photos available for license and fine art prints, and I’m also available for assignments. Wildlife

Wildlife assignments are the shoots I lose all sense of time on, the waiting is always worth the opportunity to share these wild and wonderful creatures with the world. But what means the most to me is ensuring my presence doesn’t impact the animal, I keep the appropriate distance away and always take proactive measures to avoid human-wildlife conflict.

Travel

Story of place is one of my favourite types of stories to tell, there are so many narratives waiting to be uncovered in every corner of the world, from tourism-driven turtle conservation to newly discovered dinosaur trails. I have worked in the tourism industry for over a decade, and I know firsthand what makes an image set valuable to my clients be it for a campaign, editorial or online use.

Brand

I treat brand photography as fine art. More than capturing a product, brand photography should transport an audience into the brand story. These images were taken for Hollow Tree candles, a moody, luxury candle brand born out of a deep love and connection to the forests and coastline of the Pacific Northwest.
